Bathroom or Glass Formula
Spectrum is safe on Fiberglas Showers and Tubs. Spray solution on area - agitate with soft brush, cloth, or Dobie - rinse with water or remove with cloth. Heavily stained areas - use Scotch Brite pad lightly on surfaces that will not scratch easily. Toilet bowls - spray solution around area - brush thoroughly - rinse or remove with cloth. Soap Scum: Spray small amounts - agitate with soft brush while lightly re-spraying, until dissolved - remove with cloth or rinse. Glass doors should feel totally smooth.
General: Medium - Spots: Heavy
Spectrum will safely clean and neutralize most stains and odors. Spray carpet stain - thoroughly work solution into fibers with brush or cloth - wait 1-2 minutes, remove stain with clean cloth. When cleaning entire rooms, spot treat tough stains first. Stain Resistant Carpeting: Use light dilution - agitate into fibers with brush or cloth - remove as described above. Pet Stains: See applicable sections. Carpet Machines: Refer to chart for proper dilution ratios - add 1/2 oz. Vinegar to mixture. Dirt is not attracted to areas spot cleaned once allowed to dry completely. * Test For Color Fastness
Medium - Heavy or Bleach Formula
Depending upon the material, spray solution on stain - agitate with cloth or brush, remove with cloth or rinse with water. When cleaning coffee pots, cups, and carafes - lightly agitate with brush or Nylon Dobie, and then rinse with water, (bottle brush works well for inside carafes).
Medium - Light *
Equipment should be turned off when cleaning. Apply to case - agitate with clean cloth or soft brush - remove with clean dry cloth. Keyboards: Spray directly onto damp rag or brush - apply to all areas - remove with clean cloth. Monitor Static: Spray solution onto rag - apply to screen while on - remove with dry cloth. *Glass formula may also be used
Heavy - Extra Heavy *
Remove as much of the wax or gum as possible by lifting edges with a large coin, agitate solution onto stain with brush or clean cloth, remove by rinsing with water or with clean cloth. For really tough areas, use small amount of solution straight to break bond - use Nylon Dobie or Scotch Brite pad to work it in, use above mixture to break down stain - remove as described above. * Test All Fabrics For Color Fastness
Heavy - Extra Heavy
The longer these items are allowed to dry, the tougher to remove. Spray surface - agitate using brush, Scotch Brite, or Nylon Dobie pad, wait 1-2 minutes, remove with clean cloth or rinse with water. Repeat above step if necessary. Cleaning brushes or rollers - thoroughly work solution into fibers - wait 1-2 minutes - rinse with water. When cleaning paint from trim and molding - spray solution onto cloth - agitate area to be cleaned - wait 1 minute, then remove with clean cloth. Spills on carpets, floors, and clothing - soak up as much as possible immediately - see instructions under those headings for application tips.
General: Light - No Wax: Window Formula
Wax Removal: Heavy - Wood: Light
Spray solution onto floor - agitate with mop, brush, or machine - wait 1 minute, remove by rinsing with mop. For mop bucket applications, use 1-2 oz. in gal. Bucket. For light cleaning and No Wax Flooring - use Window Formula and no rinsing is necessary. Scuff Marks: Depending on flooring - use Scotch Brite or Nylon Dobie pad to remove.
General: Medium - Grease: Heavy
Spectrum is safe to use on all type surfaces, including finished wooden cabinets.* Spray on surface - agitate with cloth, brush, or Nylon Dobie - wait 1-2 minutes, remove with clean cloth or rinse with water. Caked on grease - use Nylon Dobie or Scotch Brite pad to break through crust. When cleaning areas near the ceiling, spray solution onto rag or brush to avoid over spray. To clean & deodorize refrigerator - spray solution on area - wait 3-4 minutes then remove with cloth. To deodorize microwave - spray small amount in dish - heat on high for 30 seconds. Bathroom
and Glass mixture may also be safely used in kitchen area. * Surface may feel slightly tacky until dry.
Medium - Heavy
Soak up as much of spill as soon as possible. Spray solution on stain - agitate with brush or cloth - wait 2-3 minutes - remove with clean cloth or rinse with water. Set In Stains: Spray solution on area - agitate with brush - place clean white cloth over stain - heat area with iron set to 120º-140º F (medium heat) causing stain to wick into cloth. Repeat if necessary. Setting is safe on all type carpet fibers as well as clothing.
* Heavy - Extra Heavy
Spray solution on stain - agitate thoroughly into fabric by rubbing material together, brushing, or using Nylon Dobie pad - wait 2-3 minutes - wash as normal. Certain stains, such as chocolate, may require more than 1 application. This product easily removes organic stains, such as grass. For ink pen stains & lipstick - rub sprayer nozzle along area while spraying solution. Check all stains prior to drying - if unable to determine - air dry. Stains set in by the dryer may not come out - try heat treatment described under Kool Aid. For really tough stains - use small amount of solution straight to break bond - wash as normal. Bathroom or Bleach Formula
Spray solution on area - agitate with brush or Nylon Dobie - wait 1-2 minutes - remove with clean cloth or rinse with water. Set in stains may require use of Scotch Brite pad to remove. Extra Heavy mixture will also remove most of these stains, if Bleach or Vinegar cannot be used.
Heavy or Bleach Formula
Spray solution - thoroughly agitate with brush - wait 2-3 minutes - remove with cloth or rinse. Black film may be easily removed by spraying solution - lightly rubbing surface with Scotch Brite pad - wait 2-3 minutes, then rinse. For rust bleed, use Bathroom formula on area - agitate with Nylon Dobie or Scotch Brite pad - wait 3-4 minutes - then remove with cloth or water. Should solution dry - spray small amount to reactivate it or agitate when rinsing. BBQ grills may be cleaned by spraying Heavy solution - agitating with grill brush - waiting 2-3 minutes - remove with cloth or scraper. Note: Product is non flammable mixed.
Medium or Bathroom Formula
Soak up as much of stain as possible - spray solution on area - agitate with brush, thoroughly working into fibers, wait 1-2 minutes - remove with clean cloth - re-spray area and again work into fibers - wait 4-5 minutes - remove with clean cloth. SPECTRUM does an excellent job of removing pet odors, including urine ammonia, from cages and litter boxes, (product neutralizes rather than masks). Tough Odors: Pre-treat with vinegar & water mixture - neutralize with SPECTRUM mixture.
Light - Medium
When cleaning large areas, it is best to mix Spectrum in garden type pressure sprayer (medium dilution) and work in sections - small amount of bleach or vinegar may be safely added for really tough stains. Spray on area - agitate tough stains with brush - wait 1-2 minutes - rinse with water. When using high pressure washer, use light dilution. Spectrum will not harm plants and grass when rinsed thoroughly with water.
Heavy - Extra Heavy
Smoke & soot are oily residues. Spray surface - agitate with brush, cloth, or Nylon Dobie pad, wait 1-2 minutes - remove with clean cloth or rinse with water. Repeat if necessary. Bleach Formula also works well. Spectrum is safe to use on Fire Helmets, Clothing, and Equipment
Light - Medium - Heavy *
Spray solution on area to be cleaned - agitate with brush, cloth, or Dobie, wait 1-2 minutes, remove with clean cloth. Cushion Buttons: Cover to prevent possible rusting. Wooden furniture - use light dilution only. Steam Cleaners- refer to chart for dilution - add 1-2 Tsp. Vinegar to mixture producing a wetter solution. *Test Fabrics For Color Fastness
Light or Window Formula
Spray solution onto clean damp cloth or directly on blinds - wipe down surface - agitate tough stains with soft brush if necessary, wait 1-2 minutes - remove with clean dry cloth - repeat if necessary.
Medium - Heavy
Spectrum will not soften cured latex paint as does Formula 409® - Safe on all type Vinyl Wall Coverings. Spray surface - agitate with brush or damp cloth, wait 1-2 minutes, remove with clean cloth. To minimize running, spray from bottom upward. For really tough marks, agitate with Dobie or Scotch Brite pad. String Cloth: Use Hydrogen Peroxide Formula under Special Applications.
Very Light or Window Formula
Spray surface - agitate thoroughly with damp brush or cloth - allow haze to form, polish with clean dry cloth. Tough Areas: Use Bathroom mixture - agitate with damp cloth, remove as describe above. CD'S: Spray onto soft cloth - apply lightly to surface - remove with dry soft cloth.
Blown Textured & Drop Ceilings
To protect furniture - cover with plastic drop cloth. When spraying next to wall coverings - test small area for color fastness. Since this job requires spraying overhead - wear protective eyewear. Mix Hydrogen Peroxide Formulation in a clean Garden Type Pump Sprayer. Pre-treat tough stains prior to starting. Spray ceiling with as fine a mist as possible working back and forth, being careful not to saturate material causing drips - it is best to apply two light coats. Check areas to make sure ceiling is uniformly covered with solution. Wipe spray from walls, woodwork, and windows prior to drying. When cleaning Painted Ceilings or Hard Surface Ceiling Tiles - wipe excess spray from surface. Drop Ceiling metal tracks will require wiping to prevent spotting.
Ceiling Water Spots
Ceilings that have water stains should be pre-treated with regular Spectrum and water mixed Heavy - allow 20-30 minutes working time. Check spot prior to doing entire ceiling and if necessary, repeat above process. Some stains cannot be removed by Spectrum or any other product and must be painted. Close Window
